Rohan De Lanerolle is an acclaimed singer with a growing presence worldwide who is of Sri Lankan origin, also known to many as ‘The Pearl of the Indian Ocean’. He and his brother, known as “The De Lanerolle Brothers” have graced many concert halls around the globe that are not limited to The Weill Recital hall, Carnegie Hall & The Asia Society – New York, The Altadena Open Air Theatre – Los Angeles, The Shady grove concert Hall – Washington DC, St Paul’s Church – Chicago, St John’s Smith Square, The Sheldonian Theatre, The Adrian Boult Hall, The Solihull Arts Complex – UK, The Kamani Auditorium – India, The Bentley Music Auditorium – Malaysia, The “Princess Diana Room” of The Castle of the Angers – Germany and other appearances in Australia, Singapore, & the Maldives.
Collaborations are many with : Pianists Rohan De Silva – USA, Dr Jonathan Clarke & Caroline Jayaratnam – UK, Michael Nikolov & Bant Pushmann – Austria and Dhilanthi Fernando and to Orchestras such as The Sidcup Symphony and The Christ Church Festival Orchestras – UK, The Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra’s of Sri Lanka and are regarded as one of, if not the best entertainers in Sri Lanka. Rohan – the elder of the brothers is a highly respected vocal coach, conductor and international Juror who has been on the panel of judges for competitions in Asia, has conducted and coached choirs who have competed in international choral competitions and has also been a key note speaker on vocal pedagogy on the invitation of the Education Institute of Hong Kong. Ishan – the ‘Bass’ singer and younger of the two siblings, held office as the President of ‘The Revelations’ a Male Voice Choral Ensemble who were ranked 4th at the World Choir Games, Graz, Austria in 2008 to which both brothers contributed a great deal towards its success. He has directed many choirs in Sri Lanka and now holds office as the Music Director of The Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour with The Bishop of Colombo, Sri Lanka as its head. The brothers, who have a huge vocal range between them, have also performed for the “President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka’s”Christmas Concert in 2009. Born to sing, the bothers have that amazing quality to step out and mesmerize their audience combining Talent and Charisma to entertain be it any genre of music. Being the best combination in Sri Lanka be it either Opera, Classical, Oratorio, Sacred, Gospel or Pop it was not a surprise for the brothers to perform on the same stage of Aaron Neville & Branford Marsalis in New Orleans, Four-time Grammy Winner “Olivia Newton John’s” Sri Lanka Concerts as part of her Asia Tour 2012 and also at The “Platters Concert” featuring the Legendary “Monroe Powell”. Their signature sell-out 3 March Anniversary Concert brings out the Pop Songs of the 60-80’s period and is always a much sought after concert which is a Sit down Dinner Concert. They follow this with a mid-year Classical / Light Classical / Broadway Concert collaborating with an internationally acclaimed Pianist or Singer from overseas and conclude with their own Christmas Concert. Besides these they also conduct a service of Hymns and Thanksgiving in collaboration with the Anglican Cathedral and the Bishop of Colombo raising funds for less fortunate people bringing together more than 300 voices from Schools where they sing with and conduct every year and are involved in other CSR Projects including their on-going support for the Deaf and Blind School in Sri Lankan.
